Apr 09 - School’s dazzling dance show

Over 120 girls and boys aged 7-16 took part in the dance extravaganza at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School on Saturday. In the school’s dance show “One Night on Broadway” pupils gave a dazzling performance of hits from favourite musicals.

This memorable event was organised by Dance Teacher, Becky Muir who was herself a boarder at the school only 7 years ago. Highlights included a superb performance of the “Cell Block Tango” by the GCSE dancers which had the audience entranced and amused in equal measure. There was an attention grabbing dance from the boys who performed an excellent break-dance routine that they had perfected in one of their after-school activities at the School. Even the younger pupils in their amazing costumes and make up, impressed the audience with their routines from Lion King and ABBA.

Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis said “The show was absolutely great. The dancers showed real expression in their performance and they clearly enjoyed it as much as the audience.”

A 10 year old pupil, who performed in the show said “We wanted everyone to see what we do in our dance lessons and for them to enjoy it.”

Dance Teacher Becky Muir concludes “The dancers gave a fantastic performance. I am very pleased and proud of what they achieved on Saturday”.

Things can only get better for dance at the school because a brand new dance studio has just been built and will be in use from September this year.
