Mar 09 - Spring Concert Showcase

Pupils at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School pulled out all the stops this year for their Spring Concert held on Friday 20th March. Delighted parents and fellow pupils enjoyed performances ranging from musical theatre to popular hits from the 80s and classical pieces ranging from Arnold to Strauss. These contrasted with a number of pupil compositions including ‘The Prayer’ which was written by Laura Grace, (a Year 11 pupil) and performed by Madeline Castrey (voice) and Tarryn Poole (violin). Year 11 pupils from the School’s own “School of Rock” wowed the audience and the 55-strong Senior Choir almost brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience with their beautiful singing.

The audience were treated to a number of musical ensembles including junior and senior woodwind, strings and chamber orchestra whose hard work and perseverance this term have resulted in outstanding instrumental playing.

Director of Music, Josephine Rose said “126 pupils have been involved in our annual showcase this term and, as always it is an utter delight to work with them and help them to fulfil their musical potential. I am so proud of every single child and they are a credit to themselves, their families and our community.”

Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis said “Over a third of our pupils participate in some kind of musical activity outside of their normal school day. It is good to see that they get so much pleasure from music whilst at the same time delivering such excellent performances.”
