General Election – Green Party Candidate Visit

Following the announcement of the General Election, the Headmaster of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School was keen for local parliamentary candidates from all the main parties to have the opportunity to engage with Senior pupils.

Over the last three weeks, candidates from the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats were invited to visit the School and meet with pupils.

The School has already welcomed Susan Gregory, the Labour Candidate; John Vincent, from the Liberal Democrats; and Crispin Blunt, the Conservative candidate and current sitting member of parliament for Reigate.

Today, we welcomed Jonathan Essex, the Green Party candidate who spoke with pupils at Senior assembly and attended a Year 10 Citizenship lesson.

Pupils asked Mr Essex questions about his life as a politician, why he entered politics, and also about his opinions on matters such as wealth divide.

We would like to thank Mr Essex for his time this morning and for answering pupils’ questions.

To coincide with the General Election, on Thursday 12th December, the School will be hosting its own election with pupils voting and standing as candidates.
