General Election – Conservative Candidate Visit

Following the announcement of the General Election, the Headmaster of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School was keen for local parliamentary candidates from all the main parties to have the opportunity to engage with Senior pupils.

Over three weeks, candidates from the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats were invited to visit the School and meet with pupils.

The School already welcomed Susan Gregory, the Labour Candidate, and John Vincent, the candidate for the Liberal Democrats. Today, we welcomed the sitting member of parliament for Reigate, Crispin Blunt, who shared with pupils the Conservative point of view.

Mr Blunt, who has been an MP for Reigate since 1997, attended Senior assembly and also a Year 10 Citizenship lesson to discuss with pupils the Conservative policies and why he chose to stand for the Conservatives.

Pupils asked interesting questions about topics such as how politicians communicate and poverty.

The School thanks Ms Gregory, Mr Vincent and Mr Blunt for taking the time to speak with pupils and making them more aware of political issues.

To coincide with the general election, on Thursday 12th December, the School will be hosting its own election.
