Expanding Sixth Form, Expanding Subject Range

Mark Dixon, Headmaster of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, today announced he is introducing a new subject in the School’s Sixth Form.

From September 2020 Sixth Form students will be able to choose to follow a BTEC course in Media Production.  This brings the number of courses on offer at the school to 29.

Mr Dixon said “This school has always offered a good range of subjects for Sixth Form students.  Nevertheless, as our Sixth Form has expanded, we have been able to increase the choice available.  Last year we introduced Politics A Level, Film Studies A Level, Health and Social Care BTEC, and the Cambridge Pre-U Global Perspectives course, and I am pleased we are able to add another subject this year.

“The subjects we offer reflect the interests and ambitions of our pupils. These courses open doors to employment and higher education.  As well as offering courses that appeal to our own pupils, they also appeal to external applicants.

“Pupils from the Sixth Form are equipped not only with academic qualifications, but they also have the life skills they need to secure places at top universities and in the workplace.  This summer two pupils secured places at Oxbridge and another two secured sought-after apprenticeships within media companies.

“I look forward to meeting pupils and parents at the Sixth Form Open Evening on 10th October to talk in more detail about the options available in the Sixth Form.”
