Nov 08 - Bollywood Night at Boarding School

On Saturday 23 November Cornwall House, a girls boarding house at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, held an Indian Theme Night. Twenty girls, who are aged 13-16 dressed up in costume and took part in a number of activities – hand tattooing, Diwali card making and a competition to put on the most accurate sari, as well as watching an authentic Bollywood movie. The girls then ate an Indian meal, Chicken Jalfrezi, Potato Curry, Vegetable Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma (made by the girls themselves) with rice, samosas, onion bhajis and vegetable pakora, before settling down to watch Bend it Like Beckham.

Head of House, Mrs Irena de Voy said “The girls really got into the spirit of Indian night. Putting on a sari proved to be more challenging than we realised and we ended up with some interesting creations! “
