We're Outstanding!
The school is outstanding.
This is how the Ofsted Inspector assessed boarding at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School following a visit in March 2018. The report says “The overall experiences and progress of children and young people” are outstanding.
The assessment was welcomed by the Headmaster, Mark Dixon, but he was not surprised that his school had been given the highest grade in the recent Ofsted inspection “This school has 450 boarders, 550 flexi boarders and a strong boarding ethos. We have worked hard to ensure pupils get the best care, and every opportunity to flourish whilst they are here. Since I joined the School in September 2016 I have seen the whole staff team work hard to improve the boarding experience and build on the previous assessment which was ‘Good’ in the last inspection in 2014.”
The School has looked at every aspect of boarding to ensure it meets the highest standard possible. This has clearly paid off because the Ofsted report comments “The school provides a secure environment in which children and young people flourish, achieve academically, stretch their abilities and develop social skills.”
It’s not just the adults that think this is a great school. Ofsted states “Spending time with friends and taking part in a range of experiences not otherwise available to them is highly valued by boarders.” During the visit, Ofsted inspectors met a pupil who said “I love the range of activities. I’m always busy rushing around and having an awesome time”.
The Headmaster adds “It is fantastic that Ofsted have recognised the quality of our boarding provision. For me, however, the thing that really matters is that our pupils are happy, make excellent academic progress, and become impressive young people.”
