Oct 08 - Headmaster brings literacy to life with bolognaise

This week Year 5 pupils at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School were treated to an unusual literacy lesson conducted by Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis in the School’s Food Technology department. The children were learning how to write instructions so they watched and listened attentively whilst the Headmaster took them through the recipe for preparing a bolognaise sauce. They wrote down the steps so that they would be able to create a bolognaise sauce themselves from the instructions they had written.

Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis said “I make a point of visiting every junior class during the year. Having a lesson in this setting is an excellent way of teaching important literacy skills.”
