University success for A Level students

The 58 students at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School who received their A Level results yesterday had good reason to celebrate. 39% of all results were graded A*-B and within that there were some exceptional results for individual students:

Deanna Sharma will be going to University College, London to read Chemical Engineering having obtained an A* and two A grades in her A Levels. Deanna said “I’m really relieved. I stayed up all night and didn’t know what to expect this morning.”

Kitty Needham, who also achieved an A* and two A grades will be going to Cardiff University to read Music and English Literature. She said “I’m shocked and very happy. I didn’t expect these grades.”

Chloe Rutherfoord was another student who achieved an A* and two A grades. She plans to read medicine and will spend the coming year in relevant work placements and travelling before applying for a place in medical school in September 2014. Chloe said “I feel amazing! I really wanted these results but I wasn’t sure I would get them. These grades will be really helpful when I apply for medical school next year.”

Lizzie Hudson will be going to her first choice university – Oxford Brookes to read History and she is over the moon “During the past week, waiting for the results, the tension has got worse and worse. Today it is a massive relief to know I have got in to Oxford Brookes” said Lizzie. Dominic Scott also achieved his first choice when he secured a place at the University of Sussex to read Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He said “I’m really happy I managed to get in and I am looking forward to university.”

Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis said “This is the first year when we have results for a big group of students covering all subjects, as the Sixth Form only opened in 2010. It is particularly pleasing that the majority of students, who applied to university, obtained a place at their chosen institution.”
