May 08 - Duke McKenzie – a ‘knock out’ with pupils
Three times World Boxing Champion, Duke McKenzie attended the annual sports awards dinner at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School in Reigate on Monday 19th May. Duke McKenzie, who has been World Boxing Champion at flyweight, bantamweight and super-bantamweight, presented awards to pupils who had excelled at sports. In an after-dinner speech, McKenzie enthralled pupils with details of how he had worked hard, and overcome hurdles to achieve his world titles.Headmaster, Paul D Spencer Ellis said “Duke McKenzie is an excellent example for young people as he has shown grit and determination throughout his career – and this has resulted in success at the highest level. I am delighted that he has taken the time to join us in celebrating the sporting achievement of the young people at this School.”
