Aug 2010 - School celebrates GCSEs

Pupils at the non-selective Royal Alexandra and Albert School are celebrating record results this year. 92% achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grade A*-C, this compares with a figure of 80% last year. The number of pupils achieving 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C including English and Maths rose from 58% in 2009 to 63% this year.

Other notable achievements within the school are a 100% A*-C in Music and 93% A*-C in English Literature. 23% of all exams taken at the School resulted in an A* or A grade.

Headmaster Paul Spencer Ellis said “This has been an incredible year. We have tried to create an environment where pupils want to learn and are taught well, and this has really worked. To achieve results that are this good, pupils and teachers have worked exceptionally hard. These results mean that each of these pupils has put themselves in the best possible position to move on to the next stage of their education or training.”
