Feb 08 - Spring Concert

Pupils at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School laid on an impressive array of musical delights in their Spring Concert on 14th February. The concert showcased the musical talents of all ages, from the Junior Choir to the virtuoso performances of the GCSE and music captain soloists including Laura Grace on saxophone and Tarryn Poole on violin.

Highlights of the concert included a lively rendition by the School’s Musical Theatre Academy, of ‘Summer Nights’ from the film ‘Grease’. Sandy (Nadia Howell) and Danny (Jack Hinton) carried the audience along in 1950s nostalgia as they performed this popular classic. The orchestra played Serenade from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik demonstrating the musical talent of all the individual musicians. The Blues Improvisation on electric guitar by Tom Flint stunned the audience. The newly formed Junior Woodwind group consisting of Years 3 to 6 with some Year 8 leaders, delighted the audience with their enthusiasm and musicianship. The Senior choir dazzled everyone with each of their extremely professional performances including the wonderfully effervescent Sister Act Medley which was the finale of the Concert.

Director of Music, Josephine Rose said ‘Everyone has worked tremendously hard to create this Concert and the hard work has been worthwhile because the children and audience clearly enjoyed the performance. I’m very proud of what the children have achieved.’
