GCSE Results 2026
The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is delighted to share another year of successful GCSE results. Students’ achievements highlight their ambition and courage.
Following last week’s strong A Level results, this year’s GCSE success builds on the school’s excellent academic progress. This demonstrates the school’s commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for each student and creating a supportive community where young people are nurtured to achieve their full potential.
A high number of students achieved their English and Maths GCSEs, with 81% achieving a grade 4 or above in both subjects. This is above the national average. Students celebrated strong individual achievements across a broad range of subjects, enabling them to confidently take the next step forward in their further education and Level 3 qualifications.
Frieda Geach, a full boarder at the school, spoke about her results: “When I opened my results, I was surprised with what I got, especially two 9s in English! I wasn’t expecting that result, particularly with English Literature. I am really happy with that! I was a boarder at RAAS, and it was the best thing ever. I loved being a boarder here so much, and I’m sad that I’m leaving, but I have made so many friends for life that I will stay in contact with.”
Tomas Hughes and Rafael Ching, who are both progressing to the Sixth Form at the school, also celebrated this morning.
Tomas, a Flexi Boarder who joined the school in Year 5, said: “I have told my mum my results and she is really proud of me. I am so grateful for my friends, and the teachers in the Physics, Maths and DT departments as they are so good and they really helped me to get my 9s in my GCSEs.”
Rafael, who has boarded at the school since Year 7, said: “I got all 7s and above, and three 9s! I am so surprised. This is so unexpected. I am staying at RAAS Sixth Form to study Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I hope to study Physics at university. In Business Studies, I have attended Miss Terry’s revision classes every single Tuesday and she has helped and encouraged me a lot. Miss Whitton and Mr Connell have also helped me so much; they have genuinely been my biggest help in Maths. I am so grateful for all of them, and I am looking forward to working with them for my A Levels.”
Executive Headteacher, Mr Morgan Thomas, praised the achievements and personal growth of students, stating: “Today’s results highlight our students’ dedication, as well as the tireless commitment of their families and our colleagues. While we celebrate their academic success this morning, these results are just one chapter of their story with us. Our students have developed into confident, capable young people who are well-prepared for their next steps. Whether they are staying with us in the Sixth Form or embarking on new pathways, we are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and the individuals they have become during their time in our community. It has been an honour to guide and support our Year 11s to this milestone, and we look forward to welcoming many of them back as they continue their studies with us.”
