GCSE Results 2024

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is proud to share this year’s GCSE results and celebrate our students’ many achievements. These results stand as a testament to our students’ ambition, courage, integrity and respect for their future aspirations. They further reflect the school’s commitment to academic excellence and providing a supportive learning environment and community for all students.

This year’s results continue a pattern of improved outcomes for students at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, mirroring the success seen with the school’s A Level results last week. A significant proportion of students secured a ‘good pass’ in English and Maths, with 84% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in English and Maths. This marks an increase from last year. Additionally, the number of students achieving a ‘strong pass’ of grade 5 and above in English and Maths also rose to 60%. These strong results provide our students with a solid foundation for further education at Level 3, opening doors to a wide range of future opportunities.

As the results were released today, our Year 11 students celebrated the culmination of their years of secondary education, achieving success across a broad range of subjects. From Maths and English to the Sciences, Humanities, Sport and Creative Arts, our students have shown exceptional progress.

Elin Hughes, a Flexi Boarder at the school, achieved an exceptional set of GCSE results, with eight 9s, one 8 and one 7 grades. Relaxed and delighted, Elin celebrated her success with family and friends, expressing that she felt “good” about her accomplishments. Elin is now looking forward to studying Maths, Psychology and Spanish at A Level.

Sidney Kane and Tatenda Mutamba arrived early to collect their results and were both very pleased with their achievements. Sidney expressed gratitude to his English teacher, Mr Thornton, for helping him secure a grade 8 in English Literature, while Tatenda was thrilled with his grade 8 in History. Both students are now excited to return and continue their studies at the RAAS Sixth Form, where they will be completing their A Levels.

Grace Love, who has been a student at the school since Year 3, was delighted with her GCSE results. Accompanied by her mum, Grace was thrilled to have achieved her results and is now eagerly anticipating starting her A Levels. She plans to study English Literature, Spanish, and Politics—or possibly Musical Theatre!—at Reigate College. Despite moving on, Grace is pleased that, as the daughter of one of the school’s Heads of House, she will still have the opportunity to see many of her friends who will be remaining for Sixth Form.

Mr Morgan Thomas, Headteacher of the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, said, “These results are a reflection of our students’ hard work and determination, the unwavering support of our dedicated academic and boarding staff, and the invaluable encouragement from their families.  We are thrilled to see their efforts rewarded today.

As our students embark on the next stage of their academic journey – whether that be continuing their education at our Sixth Form, pursuing further studies elsewhere, or beginning vocational training – we are confident that they will carry with them the skills, knowledge and values they have developed during their time as part of our community. Indeed, their success is not simply measured by grades but also by the exceptional young people they have become. We look forward to welcoming many of our students back to continue their studies in our Sixth Form, and we wish all our students great success as they pursue their next steps.”
