Sixth Form Courses
The Sixth Form courses available caters to a spectrum of interests and ambitions, empowering students to shape their educational journey according to their passions and interests. We provide a comprehensive curriculum designed to inspire, challenge and equip students with the qualifications needed for their next step.
Please note: A subject will only be considered viable to run if there are sufficient numbers of students wishing to take the subject.
Extended Project Qualification
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is one of the most exciting developments in education in recent years. It is an independent project which can take the form of a dissertation, investigation, artefact or performance. Students develop the idea for their project with only limited guidance from their project supervisor, and through weekly meetings alongside skills based tutorials, students refine and develop their ideas, just as they would at university.
As attractive as the EPQ is, it is not to be taken lightly. It requires a high level of commitment to research and complete a project to a high standard and complete a report of around five-thousand words. For those that do take it up however, it is highly regarded by universities and in some cases can lead to an adjusted offer.
Number of Courses
Students are advised to do three subjects at A Level. Some students are able to pursue four subjects if they have predominantly achieved Grade 9s at GCSE.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is ambitious, diverse and inclusive. It ignites curiosity in our students to achieve academic excellence through building character, resilience and cultural capital.
Our curriculum is built on our core values and will enable students to show:
Ambition: They will aspire to achieve great things and will strive for success.
Courage: They will find the strength to persevere and overcome challenges.
Integrity: They will live by our values and do the right thing – even when nobody’s looking
Respect: They will treat others with empathy and compassion; they will take care of our environment.
The national curriculum is extended and contextualised in our school to meet the specific needs of our community.
