Schedule of Charges for the Academic Year 2025/2026
Please note that, as a state boarding school, our school is exempt from the new VAT levy on school fees.
The Board of Management have agreed the charges for the academic year 2025/2026:
The above charges are per student per term (there are 3 terms in an academic year). The charges will be reviewed again for September 2026.
Our fees are significantly lower than that of almost every other UK boarding school because the Royal Alexandra and Albert School is a state boarding school. It is a state-maintained, voluntary-aided school, rather than an independent or private school. The fees at our school are, and will always be, for the boarding and wrap-around care we provide to our students.
The Government has confirmed that state boarding schools will be exempt from the new VAT levy on school fees. As a result, while our fees will continue to be reviewed annually, there will be no increase arising from the 20% VAT. It is important to note that this is subject to Government policy.
Upon accepting a place, parents are required to sign an acceptance form and secure their child’s enrolment with a deposit. Deposits are refundable upon the child’s departure from the school, minus any outstanding costs.
These will be reviewed annually.
There are no compulsory exeats for Boarders.

Please note all riding activities must be booked through EC Pro and are no longer included on the termly school fees invoice. Notice of one term in advance must be given to cancel the termly riding club.
Music lessons are available for all orchestral instruments, harp, drums, piano, organ, recorder, voice, classical guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums.
Lessons are charged at around £24 per lesson. Pupils need to provide their own instruments.
A full term’s notice in advance must be given if music lessons are no longer required. Please note that the contract for individual music lessons is between the visiting music teacher and the parent(s).
