Admissions to RAAS

Welcome to the Royal Alexandra and Albert School. We are delighted that you are considering our school for your child’s education. Below, you will find detailed information about the types of places offered, the admissions process, our dedicated Admissions team and how to contact us.

Types of Places We Offer

At the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, we offer Full Boarding, Flexi Boarding and Sixth Form Non-Boarding. These places cater to families seeking flexibility and stability in their child’s education. Please note that we do not offer day places.

  • Full Boarding – Full Boarding students live at the school during term time and are able to return home at the weekend (exact weekend timings depend on the child’s Year Group). Full Boarding is available from Year 3 to Year 13. Full details can be found on the Full Boarding page.
  • Flexi Boarding – Flexi Boarders are local students who attend the academic school day from 8.30am to 3.35pm, but their day is supplemented with additional wrap-around care. This includes early drop-off, late pick-up and 7 to 10 days of boarding per year. The Flexi Boarding package is also inclusive of meals and co-curricular activities. Full details can be found on the Flexi Boarding page.
  • Sixth Form Non-Boarding – In the Sixth Form, we offer Full Boarding and Non-Boarding. The Non-Boarding Package offers additional flexibility of accessing school facilities in the evening, with members of the Sixth Form team on hand for additional support, and participating in co-curricular activities. Meals are included. While students are not required to board, all students are attached to a boarding house. More information can be found here.

The Admissions Team

Our Admissions team is dedicated to helping you navigate the journey to joining the Royal Alexandra and Albert School. Comprising experienced professionals, our team is committed to providing personalised support and guidance throughout the application process. Whether you have questions about the types of places we offer, need assistance with the application form, or require information about the next steps, our Admissions team is here to help.

Ms Fiona Newport - Admissions Officer

Fiona has worked at the school as Admissions Officer for 14 years and has a true understanding of boarding school life.
Fiona is the first point of contact for boarding applicants and for families wishing to join the school at the Sixth Form entry point. Her favourite part of the job is the diversity of the role and the variety of people with whom she works and meets.

She has an artistic and musical background, attending boarding school for ballet and theatre before pursuing a degree in Music. She moved fully into the music world with a variety of jobs in the classical music industry – some highlights include being an agent for soloists and an orchestra tour manager. Both roles led her to exciting parts of the world.

Fiona lives locally and has two sons. Her eldest was an outstanding sportsman, and his involvement in athletics led to her own interest in the sport. She has since been an athletics team manager, coaching assistant and official during her spare time, and continues to be very involved with her local club.

Mrs Gemma Jackson - Admissions & Marketing Assistant

Gemma has worked at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School for nine years. During her years working at the school, she has been a part of the Co-Curricular and the Admissions teams, enabling her to learn about many different areas of the school and the student experience.

In her role, Gemma supports boarding families with their applications and oversees the smooth transition for applicants upon acceptance. She also supports Flexi Boarding applications at key stages and runs the school’s weekly newsletter.

As well as being a part of the Admissions team, Gemma is a current parent. Her children have progressed through the Junior and Senior school as Flexi Boarders. She has great insight into rugby, horse riding and other muddy activities available to students!

Gemma is passionate about the school and thoroughly enjoys seeing students move from the application stage to joining, and seeing their journey throughout their time at the school.

Mrs Jules Hamill - Admissions & Marketing Administration Assistant

Jules joined the Admissions team in 2019, with a wealth of personal experience of the boarding school environment.

Growing up in a military family, Jules spent most of her childhood in Germany and was educated at a boarding school in Shropshire.

She started her career working in a law firm in New York as part of the Mountbatten Program, before returning to the UK to work in the publishing industry and then progressing to the financial sector. She now supports families with the admissions process, mainly liaising with Flexi Boarding applicants.

Her favourite part of her role is sending a family an offer letter after corresponding with them throughout the admissions process – knowing that a child will have fantastic new opportunities at our school is a wonderful feeling!

Jules is an avid supporter of Chelsea Football Club and is Membership Secretary for her local football club. Jules has three children, one at university and twins in college.
