Health Centre
Counselling
We have a friendly and professional counselling service that is available to students of all ages. We aim to support students who have a variety of difficulties such as family issues, bereavement, friendship difficulties, exam or academic pressure, and many other problems that could evoke difficult feelings.
We help students by providing a confidential space to talk about difficulties and to be listened to without judgement. This aim is to give students thinking time and work together to find helpful solutions to whatever may be bothering them.
The counselling team is based in a quiet area of the school, away from the main buildings, allowing students to have more privacy.
Parental Consent
Parents are usually informed so that they are able to consent for their child to receive counselling support. In some circumstances, parents may not be notified. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis, and usually when the student is capable of consenting independently.
Referrals
We have a school intervention pathway. Referrals can be made for counselling through the Director of Inclusion.
Our Counsellors
All counsellors are trained, qualified and have considerable experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting. We work in partnership with all areas of the school, including Safeguarding and SEND teams. In addition, we have good links with local resources such as CAMHS and Mindworks.
