All-Steinway School

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School takes pride in its distinction as the first All-Steinway state school in England. Eight pianos and two grand pianos crafted by Steinway and Sons are exclusively used for music tuition and showcasing students’ talents. Each piano has been selected to cater to the specific needs of our musicians.

Piano lessons are conducted on these excellent instruments, facilitating optimal learning experiences for our students. Furthermore, the pianos serve as the centrepiece for recitals and performances, providing a platform for students and visiting musicians alike to demonstrate their skill. This dedication to providing the finest musical equipment underscores our commitment to nurturing musical talent and fostering a culture of excellence within our school.

Students are afforded ample opportunities to showcase their musical abilities through both formal and informal concerts and recitals held in Chapel, Gatton Hall, and the Bothy Music Centre. The piano holds a pivotal role in our music programme at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, with specialist tuition provided from Year 3 through to A Level, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching musical education for all our students.
