Rank Weston

Rank Weston is a co-educational boarding house for children in Year 7.

In 1967, the Rank family donated the cost of building the J V Rank boarding house. The following year, Garfield Weston donated the cost of building the Rita Howard Weston boarding house. The Houses were built as mirror images, forming one large boarding house, comprising a wing for boys and a separate wing for girls. The boarding house is now known within the school community as Rank Weston, celebrating the valued contribution of two long-standing supporters of the school.

The Head of House is Ms Jackie Goodenough.

Born and raised in Streatham, South London, Jackie began her career in finance, working as a Finance Manager for blue-chip companies, including Logica UK and McKinsey & Company in London. She later spent two years in New York, collaborating with a small team to lead the global rollout of Oracle Financials for McKinsey.

After stepping away from the corporate world to raise her three children, Jackie became a full-time childminder. As her children moved into secondary school at RAAS, she sought a more hands-on role and joined Surrey Outdoor Learning & Development, where she played an active part in the centre’s daily operations. It was here that she began her journey with the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE). After completing her training and qualifications, she spent six years working with Surrey schools to deliver the programme.

In 2015, Jackie joined RAAS as the DofE & Co-Curricular Manager. Her growing interest in boarding led her to take on additional responsibilities in Cornwall and Kent boarding houses before becoming Deputy Head of Alexandra House, a role she held for two years. She later became Head of Elizabeth House. In September 2024, Jackie took on an exciting new challenge – establishing Rank Weston as a Year 7 boarding house. She now lives there with her son and daughter, and their retired police dog, Joe.
