About Us
Purpose & Vision
Our boarding school has a rich history dating back to 1758 when a group of City gentlemen met and decided to collect funds to create a boarding school for twenty orphan boys. The school opened in 1760, and two years later, the school expanded to welcome twenty girls, marking the beginning of a legacy that continues to thrive.
The Royal Alexandra and Albert School Act of 1949 united The Royal Alexandra School, founded in 1758, and The Royal Albert School, established in 1864 as a national memorial to Prince Albert. We take pride in our royal patronage.
Rooted in Christian principles, our school embraces a caring community that welcomes individuals of all faiths and beliefs or none.
Our school motto, purpose and vision remain rooted in the school’s long history and reflect the school’s ambition for the future.
School Purpose
We exist to give our children a distinctly different start in life, preparing them for the world with hope, optimism, compassion and empathy.
School Vision
Our community enhances lives, ignites curiosity and inspires compassionate leaders.
School Motto
Nisi Dominus Frustra.
The school motto is adapted from the 127th Psalm, meaning Unless the Lord keep the City, the Watchman waketh in vain. In keeping with the school’s Protestant values, the motto is associated with the idea that human efforts are futile without divine presence and support.
Join us on a journey of academic ambition, character development, and a sense of community that has been flourishing for more than two centuries. We look forward to welcoming you to our school soon.
