Ofsted Inspections

As a state boarding school, the Royal Alexandra and Albert School receives two separate Ofsted inspections, one for school and one for boarding. These can be found below.

Boarding Inspection 2025

Ofsted judged the overall experiences and progress of students in our school as Outstanding, highlighting that “Students are making significant progress”, with the report stating that “Students are supported through a culture of high expectation, helping them to achieve the best they can.”

We are extremely proud of the positive outcomes mentioned in the report such as:

• The work of our skilled staff, in providing “greater integration across full-time boarding and day-to-day education”.
• Praise for the way that “difference is truly celebrated” at Royal Alexandra and Albert School. Staff and students celebrate and understand how the diversity contributes to the positive culture within the school.
• “Boarding staff have positive relationships with students enabling them to offer informal support to meet children’s individual needs if appropriate”, with Ofsted reporting that “Students are unanimous in their praise of this and value these relationships and the importance of house parents.”

School Inspection 2024

The school has been graded as “Good” overall in the most recent section 5 inspection.

The grades in each inspection category are as follows:

Ofsted states: “Pupils are happy and well cared for at Royal Alexandra and Albert School. They benefit from positive relationships with staff across the school. Pupils feel safe, confident that if they report any concerns or worries they will be dealt with.”
