Eleanor Edmonds, a Year 11 pupil at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School has won a coveted place at Chethams School of Music in Manchester. Chethams is arguably the best all-round music school in the country and is a recognised ‘centre of excellence’ by the DFES.
Eleanor, who has been a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain since 2005, achieved Distinction in her Grade 8 Musical Theatre Exam and will be taking Grade 8 Singing at Easter. She has also been awarded DipLCM in Musical Theatre (normally awarded to first year university students).
Director of Music at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, Josephine Rose says “I am absolutely thrilled for Eleanor. She has worked so hard in the six years she has been at the School, listened and acted on all advice given and really deserves this opportunity. Eleanor is fantastically talented and should go to the very top of the music profession in years to come.”
The place at Chethams would provide a big boost to Eleanor who is hoping to gain a place at the Royal Academy in London when she is 18.
