Royal Alexandra and Albert School
is the only state school to offer boarding for
Years 3-6. With over 50 junior boarders, the Junior
Department is a unique school offering excellent
education combined with unrivalled pastoral care.
The character of the school is determined
by the need to offer round-the-clock care and
activities to the boarding community. Therefore,
those children who are not boarders join the School
as day-boarders and enjoy after-school activities
and supervised prep (homework) alongside their
boarding peers. As a result, there is a harmonious
atmosphere in the Junior Department and high levels
of participation in all after-school activities
including music, sport and theatrical productions.
There is high demand for places
in the Junior Department and most pupils progress
to the Senior School in Year 7.
