This Founders' Weekend was the 249th
anniversary of the founding of the Alexandra,
the 143rd anniversary of the Albert and the 58th
anniversary of the amalgamation of the two Schools
as the Royal Alexandra and Albert School.
Founders' Day was celebrated on
Sunday 13th May with the Senior Prize Giving Service
in the School Chapel. During the service, Opening
Prayers were said by the Head Boy and Head Girl
and the Headmaster gave an address. This was followed
by an address by the visiting speaker Mr Adrian
Underwood, Past Director of the Boarding Schools
Association. The Headmaster and Mr Underwood then
presented prizes to senior pupils.
Following the service, visitors
were invited to exhibitions of work from the Art
and Design and Technology departments. They were
also entertained by various music groups and solos
from the Music department. After lunch the ACF
Cadets conducted a number of Exercises on the
Top Field, there was a Dance display and a show
jumping display in the Riding School. The day
was rounded off with a football match between
the Old Gattonians and Staff.
