Bike it is an exciting project which helps more pupils to be able to cycle to school. It is run by Sustrans which is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity.

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is proud to be part of Bike It. Gayle Amorowson is the Bike It Officer for Reigate and Banstead and helps our school in the following ways:

  • Organising promotional activities and events such as competitions, bike rides, cycle skills sessions, after school clubs and much more...
  • Working with the local authority to make sure as many pupils as possible can have good quality cycle training and safe routes to school.
  • Presentations and assemblies for pupils about the benefits of cycling, as well as help with cycling-related classroom sessions and after school clubs.
  • Building links with bike shops and other cycling organisations in the local community.

Information to Parents and Carers will be in the weekly newsletter when there is an event on. The aim of the Bike It project is to change behaviour and create a pro-cycling culture within RAAS where pupils are able to cycle to school.

The Bike It champion for the senior school is Mr Ian Rowe and for the junior school is Rebecca Donohoe. If you would like some more information or free cycling maps please contact them on ianrowe@gatton-park.org.uk or rebeccadonohoe@gatton-park.org.uk.
